All of last year my "go to" pack was the Rail Hauler 2500 and I love that pack, but this year I wanted to find a mid sized, internal frame pack, that I could pull out when I didn't think that a hard-frame pack would be necessary, so I got the Carbine 2500. My first impression of the pack was that it was light but solidly built. It has a great layout of external pockets with three different compartments inside the main pack and a perfect amount of external straps that you can utilize to strap different items to the pack if you need to (including the weapon carrying system). The pack is large enough to fit all of my back-country camping gear along with my photography/filming equipment but it is small (and light enough) to wear on one day hunts were I want a little bit more gear than what will fit in my Snare pack. I put the Carbine 2500 through the ringer this year, starting out with my wife using it during the Train To Hunt 'meat pack event', during all of my preseason scouting and throughout my archery hunting season. If that was not enough of a test, I used it while I was filming a Colorado Archery Elk hunt, a Colorado Archery Mountain Goat hunt and a Colorado First Season Rifle Elk hunt. Before I started to use Slumberjack packs, my old pack would make my traps and lower back sore on the hike into the back-country and they would be on fire if i ever had to pack out a heavy load after a successful hunt. I have not had this problem since I switched to using any of the Slumberjack packs and the Carbine 2500 pack is no exception. The heaviest load that I was able to throw on the Carbine 2500 was after I helped my buddy harvest a bull elk miles deep in some pretty tough mountain terrain. I put a front quarter, half of the back straps, neck meat, and a full rear quarter on my pack in addition to all of my camping gear. This pack held up great and considering it took us over 9 hours of hiking to get to the truck, I felt great, while my buddy (who was using a different pack) had his traps firing up halfway through the hike out and could barley move by the time we got to the truck. If you are looking for a great, all around pack, that you can use for day hunts/hikes or for a few days in the back-country with a heavy load, this is the pack to get. on Oct 16th 2015

    2. Customer Review

I've used a lot of packs and rucks over the years, to carry all kinds of loads over all kinds of terrain. What I like about the Carbine 2500 is that it's pretty lightweight and the pockets are easy to access, even when there is a rifle or carbine attached. When there isn't a long gun in place, everything needed to carry that long gun can be tucked away, which is really nice when compared to some of the other long gun packs that I've used. As for the Kryptek, I'm not much of a camo nerd - if it breaks up my outline and the colors blend with my surroundings, I'm happy. That said, this was my first piece of gear with Kryptek camo (Highlander) and have been very happy with how well it blends in from the deserts to the mountains and everything in between. All in all, a solid pack that every hunter should seriously consider. on Feb 4th 2015

    3. Customer Review

I wasn't to sure about the Krypteck camo pattern at first, but once I got this pack in my hands I've decided it's my favorite camo print yet. The Carbine 2500 looks to be the perfect day pack for my CO elk hunt. I'll put the hard miles into this pack once the hunt starts, but I've been very impressed while using on training hikes. It has very useable pockets in just the right places, this pack is designed with the hunter in mind. It did not disappoint in quality, construction, or comfort. The pockets are awesome, and I'm fired up to drop a bull elk from the built in rifle rest, which I've been testing at the range, and it works perfectly. I've very happy with this pack and it was worth every penny. My first impressions of SJK products is that they are the real deal in the tactical hunting category. I'll updated again after the hunt. on Sep 30th 2014
